Goldtop Gold – Metallic

The Goldtop finish made it’s debut in the 50’s on the first Les Paul’s and has been a favorite ever since. We’ve sourced the original metallic component that Gibson has used and it can be expected to age/green over time if the metallic coat becomes oxidized. Must be clear coated for proper depth and protection. Looks amazing paired with Tobacco Brown to acheive the infamous Goldtop Darkback. Should be sprayed on a well prepped surface that’s been sealed/primed and carefully levelled.

8OZ CANS

Due to the oxidation that occurs when Goldtop powder mixes with nitro lacquer in an open environment, 8oz Goldtop cans are supplied in two containers. 1 containing a lacquer base and another containing the metallic powder.

The user is instructed to mix them thorough together and then strain prior to spraying. There is a window of ~3-5 days before the lacquer oxidizes and begins to turn green.

AEROSOLS

Goldtop Aerosols are mixed in an acrylic lacquer as nitrocellulose and bronze powder are unstable when combined for long periods. Clear coating is advised as with all metallics
